09/04/06 SYDNEY

Monday we drove to Sydney and spirits were high. We were listening to classic rock music ALL day on the bus (except for when we watched Anchorman) and everyone was up for partying that night. The only problem on the night was I had caught a cold from the kayaking so I was feeling a bit rough, but we still had a great time.
The next day everyone from the bus went their seperate ways which basically meant I had a week in Sydney on my own. I was okay with this though, because on the Oz bus you're constantly meeting people, doing activities, drinking - you're basically ON all the time. So it was nice to have some alone time and just relax and take it easy.

Over the few days I had here I went to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge (obviously). I didn't walk up the Harbour Bridge because it costs something like $120 when you can walk across it for free! I went up the Sydney Centre Tower, enjoyed the amazing views and a nice beer! On two of the other days I took a ferry, one to Manly Beach which was beautiful - if I hadn't pulled the muscle in my arm I would have done some more surfing; the other was to Watson's Bay, which I went to simply for the novelty value. It was really pretty and had some nice views but I only spent a couple of hours there. Most days I'd end up having a beer at the bar outside the Opera House, looking onto the Harbour Bridge.

I also spotted a few of the Matrix and Mission Impossible 2 locations around the city (see the photos). It was kind of funny because one afternoon I was sitting in the Botanic Gardens reading (the Ozy version of) Empire. I was reading an article about Mission Impossible 3 in the exact spot the last shot of MI: 2 was taken.

Saturday night I went for a drink in the bar with 2 of the Irish girls from my room, and Sunday I'm basically getting ready for New Zealand. I fly out at 8:50am Monday morning... Next: Edoras
